First ever victory v. CH West

The Sterling Swimming Team had an amazing meet last night defeating Cherry Hill West 94-76 for the first time in school history on senior night. The knights put up 14 personal bests and two new school records. Here are the results:

Andrew Mottola-50 free and 100 Butterfly-1st place
Tommy Sheehan-100 free-1st place
Joe Gant-100 Breaststroke-1st place
200 freestyle relay consisting of Tommy Sheehan, Danny Sheehan, Matt Dieterle, and Andrew Mottola-1st Place.
400 freestyle relay consisting of Tommy Sheehan, Dan DeRemigi, Matt Dieterle, and Andrew Mottola-1st place

Two New School Records:

Andrew Mottola Breaking the school record in the 100 butterfly with a time of 54.91.
He also broke his own 50 freestyle record with a new time of 21.22. Through January 24th state performance list, his time now ranks him #1 in the state in this event.

The Knight overall record is now 5-6. They swim their last regular season dual meet on Thursday Night vs. Bishop Eustace @ 7:30 pm @ Camden County Vo-Tech.

SJ Coaches Inv

This past Saturday the Sterling Swimming Team swam in the South Jersey Coaches Invitational Championship Meet. The meet consisted of 28 teams from all around South Jersey. The knights Placed 4th overall as a team.

Saturday's SJ girls basketball results




   Anyssa Sanchez hit two key three-point plays to help lift the Sterling High School girls' basketball team to a 46-38 victory against Kingsway in a nonleague game Saturday.
   Sanchez finished her first three-point play to end the second quarter and give the Silver Knights a 26-24 lead going  into the half. The Dragons took the lead again in the third quarter, but it was Sanchez who hit another three-point play to give the Silver Knights the lead for good.
   Sanchez scored 13 of her 20 points in the second half, collected 11 rebounds and three steals. Tyra Satchell added 12 points, six assists, three steals and two blocks. Zoe Hahn led the Dragons with 12 points.

Haddon Heights 47, Clayton 22: Nadja Riggs led the Garnets with 18 points and Taylor Nichols added 13 in the win. The Garnets broke open the game with a 22-point third quarter. Taylor Reed led Clayton with eight points.

Lady Knights beat Kingsway

Seniors Anyssa Sanchez and Tyra Satchell lead Sterling to 46-38 win over Kingsway Saturday. Sanchez had another double-double and the Lady Knights outscored the Dragons 10-5 in the fourth quarter and forced Kingsway to commit seven of their 22 turnovers in the final period.

Sterling won despite shooting 28% from the field and 58% from the foul line.

Baby Knights defeat Kingsway

Sterling freshman girls basketball team tops Kingsway 40-23. Eleana Kriebel had 11 points and 6 assists to lead the Baby Knights, who improved to 5-1.

Friday's South Jersey Girls Basketball Results



Burlington County
Burlington City 55, Maple Shade 53:    The Blue Devils trailed the Wildcats 40-38 heading into the final quarter. Burlington City then outscored Maple Shade 17-13 in the fourth quarter to win. Courtney Davis led all scorers with 27 points for the Blue Devils while teammate Jada Atchinson added 22. For the Wildcats, Brittany Granahan scored 17 and Jill Dombrowski added 13.

Jimmy Daniels’ 3200 time of 9:23.54 was the 11th fastest time run in the United States this year!! US#11!!

More records fall

The Sterling Swimming Team Fell to Cherry Hill East 114-56. However, the Knights had some outstanding time drops and record performances. Here are some of the results:
Tommy Sheehan-50 Freestyle-1st place
Andrew Mottola-100 Breaststroke-1st place

Andrew Mottola set two new school records in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:52. 79 and 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:06.84.

The Knights will now compete in the South Jersey Coaches Invitational this Saturday @ 10 am @ GCIT.

Girls Rule @ Rowan

On Sunday, the Sterling Girls Swimming team competed in the Girls Rule Meet at Rowan University. 9 teams from Camden, Salem, and Gloucester County area were invited to the meet. Here are some of the first place results:
Brittany Sims-200 IM-1st Place

Ashley Sims-50 Free-1st place

Freshman/Sophmore Freestyle relay consisting of Jenn Abbott, Missy Dow, Shelly Escobar, and Anne Marie Brook placed 1st.

Saturday's South Jersey Varsity Girls Basketball Results


   Gloucester Catholic 42, Clearview 26: Becky Pund scored seven of her 13 points in the final quarter to help lift the Rams past Clearview in the Crusaders Coaches versus Cancer Shootout at Delsea.
   Emily Lyons led the Rams, ranked No.  2 in the Courier-Post Top 10, with 16 points, including four 3-pointers. The victory improved the undefeated Rams' record to 12-0.

Sterling Frosh beat Bishop Eustace in girls hoops

The Baby Knights (4-1) rally from 12-point halftime deficit and hold the Crusaders to just four points in the 2nd half in a 31-26 victory. My Knute Rockne speech: Play basketball, ladies. Nobody is rescuing you today.

Swimming Knights defeat Eastern in final relay

The Sterling Swimming Team had an amazing meet on Friday vs. Eastern winning 87-83. It was a great meet for all who came out. The meet came down to the last relay with the knights pulling out 1st and 3rd to win the meet. Here are the results:

Tommy Sheehan-50 Free-1st Place

200 Free Relay-Tommy Sheehan, Danny Sheehan, Tyler Sheehan, Andrew Mottola-1st Place

400 Free Relay-Tommy Sheehan, Dan DeRemigi, Matt Dieterle, and Andrew Mottola-1st Place.



This meet brings the knights record to 4-5 on the season. Next meet is Thursday vs. Cherry Hill East @ 6:15 pm @ Camden County Vo-Tech.

Swimming v Washington Twp.

Sterling Swimming team fell to Washington Twp in a good meet 96-74. The knights had again personal best time drops and individual winners. Here are the results:

Tommy Sheehan-1st place-200 free

Andrew Mottola-1st Place 50 free

200 Freestyle relay consisting of Tommy Sheehan, Danny Sheehan, Matt Dieterle, and Andrew Mottola came away with a 1st place finish.

Meet Note:

Andrew Mottola qualified for the njsiaa state championship meet in the 100 freestyle with a time of 49.80.



The Knights next meet will be vs. Lenape on Thursday @ 6 pm @ Burlington County College.

Winter Track



The Boys and Girls Winter Track and Field team competed at the Group 2 Relay championships on Sunday.  The team enjoyed their best meet of the season with 3 relay teams placing in the top 6 in New Jersey.

The Girls 4x4 team of Ebony Felder, Ateera Wyatt, Candace Daywalt, and Rachel Adamski placed 6th with a time of 4:24.3.

The Girls Shot Put Relay of Chanel Jenkins and Amiyah Smith placed 4th.  Chanel Jenkins threw a indoor record with a throw of 33’10 ½”.

Finally, the Distance Medley Relay team of Sean Macpherson, Kalib Crump, Naheem Parker, and Jimmy Daniels placed 4th with a time of 10:53.1.  The relay was anchored by Jimmy Daniel’s mile time of 4:28.

Congratulations to the entire team and keep up the good work.

Knights v Haddonfield

The Sterling Swimming team fell to Haddonfield 107-63. However, the swimming knights once again put up more time drops and record performances. Andrew Mottola was a double winner in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle events. Ashley Sims set a new school record in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:03.23. She broke her old mark of 1:03.82 which was set in 2011.



The Knights will now swim a South Jersey Swim League divisional meet on Tuesday vs. Washington Township at Camden County Vo-Tech at 5 pm.

Swim Team gets third win in style

The knights downed the Eagles on Thursday 118-65, but the highlights were 3 team records fell in a day.

200 yard medley relay consisting of Paulo Nascimento, Matt Coates, Ashley Sims, and Dan Sheehan took 1st Place.

200 yard freestyle relay consisting of Dan Sheehan, Tyler Sheehan, Tommy Sheehan, and Andrew Mottola- 1st place

400 yard freestyle relay consisting of Andrew Mottola, Dan DeRemigi, Tommy Sheehan, and Matt Dieterle took-1stplace

Meet Notes:
  Andrew Mottola set a new school record in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:52.12.  Breaking the old mark of 1:57.81 set by Mike Lewitt.  He also broke the 100 Butterfly record with a time of 56.62. Breaking the old mark of 58.52 set by Christian Shinkowitz last season.

Finally, Ashley Sims broke her own 50 freestyle record with a time of 25.24.  Her old mark was 26.13 which was set last season.  Her time qualifies her for the NJSIAA State Championship Meet which is held in March.

The Knights next meet is this Saturday vs. Haddonfield at 9 am at Camden County Vo-Tech.
