Lady Knights avenge loss

If the Lady Knights were anxious to avenge an earlier season loss to Collingswood tonight, waiting an extra 40 minutes couldn't have helped.  That's because the JV team forced double overtime before taking out the Panthers. Then, 33 seconds in to the game it was stopped to honor 1000 point scorer Ellie O'Neill.

Anyssa Sanchez scored the first 5 points for the Knights, but quickly picked up her third foul at the end of the first quarter.  Tori Shinkowitz took a hard foul that forced her out. As they sat on the bench the second quarter the Lady Knights had to make adjustments on offense and defense leaving them down 12-11 at the half.

Coach McDonald's adjustments in the second half paid off quickly.  With Tyra Satchell running the offense, Lelani Naone-Carter and Jenn Scully pounded the boards and Sterling slowly built a double digit lead in the third quarter and holding the Lady Panthers to 4 third quarter points.

In the end, Sterling had answers for everything Collingswood tried. They broke the full court press, grabbed more rebounds, and made free throws when they counted.

The win puts their streak at ten and control of the Colonial conference title. Sterling looks ahead the the third round of the NJ Invitational against Ocean City HS.
