Lady Knights fall in SJIBT semifinals

The Lady Knights rallied from a 13-point halftime deficit to cut it to 7 with three minutes left, but Sterling couldn't get any closer in a 52-43 loss to Willingboro in a SJIBT semifinal Friday night at Eastern High School that snapped Sterling's 14-game winning streak.

Sterling (20-4) committed 12 of their 27 turnovers in the second quarter, when the Chimeras outscored the Lady Knights 15-4 to lead 23-10 at the intermission.  After taking a 6-2 lead four minutes into the game, Sterling allowed Willingboro to go on a 13-0 run to seize control of the game.

Anyssa Sanchez, who scored 13 points, had a chance to cut the deficit to four in the third quarter but she missed a layup try when it was 27-21.

Tyra Satchell scored 16 points to lead Sterling, who will play the loser of the Rancocas Valley-Gloucester Catholic semifinal in Sunday's consolation game at 2:30 pm while the winner will meet Willingboro in the 4:30 final.
